Welcome to Writer Coaching - Together we’ll work on your short story or book...one chapter at a time. You decide just how much you’d like to review. Getting started is simple:
1. Create an MS Word file with your first chapter or short story [up to 10 pages]. Make the margins at least 1 inch all around and double-space the lines. Put your name - the title of the book - and the chapter number in the header or footer. Use a font such as Times Roman at 12 points.
2. Click the Contact/Order page and send your $59.00 payment through the PayPal “Buy Now” button (you don’t need an account with them and they take most credit cards).
3. Click the e-mail link to me and attach your file. You can include a paragraph or two about the story as well if you wish. Feel free to add a few questions here too!
You’re done! I’ll get back to you in a week to ten days with notes and the evaluation. After your 2nd submission, you can also include one previous chapter we’ve worked on with your new revisions, if you wish. I’ll have a second look at it for you.
I use MS Word’s tracking feature to make notes and suggestions in your manuscript. For each submission, I look at the following areas:
Plot/Story development
Characterization
Setting and description
Dialogue and internal monologue
Writing mechanics and grammar
If you don’t have a story on the go but would like to concentrate on honing your writing skills, drop me a line at studios@paulawheeler.com.
